Gabriel Krasiun Jr. was killed during World War II (WWII) on June 9, 1946 and honoured by having his name given to a lake in northern Saskatchewan known as Krasiun Lake.
The lake was named after Gabriel Krasiun Jr. on September 6, 1956 as part of the project begun in 1947 by the Saskatchewan Geographic Names Board and completed by Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan in 2003.
The lake is very long but not very wide. It measures about 7km long but it is only about 400m wide with some sections being narrower.
You cannot drive to Krasiun Lake unfortunately as there are no roads nearby. It is located about 178km directly north of La Ronge, Saskatchewan.
