Varteniuk 25th Anniversary

After 25 years of marriage a group of friends and family came together in Timmins, Ontario to celebrate the wedding anniversary of George Vartentiuk and his wife Eva Pinciuc.

  • Who: Forty people in total, 19 men, 19 women, 1 boy, 1 girl. People are arranged into three rows.
    • Back row of twenty three people are standing with their backs to a wall
    • Middle row of ten people are seated at a long table facing the camera
    • Front row of seven people are seated closest to the camera on the opposite side of the long table from the middle row
  • What: 25th Wedding Anniversary of George and Eva Vartentiuk
    • A sign on the wall written in Romanian reads “Doauzece si cinca de ani universeri” which translates to “Twenty-five years of university”. It probably should have read “Doauzece si cinca de ani aniverseri” which would have meant “Twenty-five year anniversary”.
  • Where: G.V. Hotel, Timmins, Ontario, Canada
  • When: 1941 Possibly
  • Why: Capturing attendees of the Anniversary celebration

John was born in Bukovina and immigrated to Canada when he was about 26 years old with his wife Domnica (we don’t think she is in this photo). He tried farming in Saskatchewan for some decades but eventually made the move to Timmins, Ontario. John and Dominica raised 6 children who all, save one, were adults at the time of this photo.
